Kooyer Farm
Kooyer Farm
In December, 1908, William and Kate Kooyer sold their home in Muskegon, MI for “$1.00 and other valuable considerations” and moved north to rural Antrim County with their young son, Andrew. Armed with little more than unswerving faith in God and unconditional love for each other, they cleared land, planted crops, raised livestock and carved a family farm from the countryside.
This website is devoted to their vision and to the fruits of their labor, which in addition to countless grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren, now includes a farmstead 100 years old. In celebration of that centennial, these pages offer a glimpse into the past of the Kooyer family including its roots in the Netherlands, its transition to America, and its contribution to its community.
Thank you for visiting.
